Here at Rivers Crossing Community Church, we believe that everyone is created to worship. The question is, to what or whom do we give our worship? Worship is the ultimate expression of what is truly at the center of our hearts. We can either worship the one true God, or we end up worshipping His creation.
In John 4:23, Jesus lays out the expectation for worship very clearly, "Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in spirit and in truth." Because God seeks us, we are able to have freedom in worship through Jesus. Without God drawing us to Him, we would be unable to completely worship Him, as He is spirit and truth. Jesus seeks us out, Jesus saves us from our sins, Jesus then, through the cross, leads us to the Father where we are able to give Him all glory, honor and praise.
If we could sum up our philosophy of worship in one word, it would be: Freedom. Through Jesus and the work of the cross, we have freedom from the trappings of this world that allows us to express ourselves to our creator in humble adoration and praise. Not because of who we are, but absolutely because of the work He has done on our behalf.
