The story of Christ’s birth is a story of promise, hope, and a revolutionary love. So, what happened? What was once a time to celebrate the birth of a Savior has somehow turned into a season of stress, traffic jams, and shopping lists. And when it’s all over, many of us are left with presents to return, looming debt that will take months to pay off, and this empty feeling of missed purpose. Is this what we really want out of Christmas?
What if Christmas became a world-changing event again? Welcome to the Christmas Conspiracy.
We started the Christmas Conspiracy 3 months after the launch of this church in 2007 with the aim to Worship Fully, Spend Less, Give More and Love All. The proceeds from the first two offerings went to establish a Free Store in South Lebanon and our international missions in Guatemala. This year’s offering will be used to stock the Free Store in 2010 as well as to support our work in Guatemala.
We are challenging ourselves to match dollar for dollar the amount we spend on gifts with the amount we give to the Christmas Conspiracy offering. If this is too much, that’s ok, join and give what you can. If this is too little, that’s ok, join and give extravagantly. Download a gift tracker to help you keep track of your spending.
The results are in and $57,000 has been contributed to the 2009 Christmas Conspiracy, that's over a 50% increase from last year! Thank you to everyone who participated in the Christmas Conspiracy!
