Day 20

The fast has ended for the Taylor family. Tonight was officially 21 days for us. It was a powerful three weeks of community in my home and in our church family. I am so proud of the many who fasted and experienced great break throughs.

This week I traveled to Guatemala with Pastor Jeff to explore our future involvement in a church plant in La Limonada. It was a powerful couple of days and I am excited to say we will be continuing our relationship there. You'll hear more in the near future about our support and direct involvement in the community of faith that is ministering to the least, the last, and the lost.

As I crawled through windows into tiny ramshackle homes to pray for families who had little; I was reminded of one of the most powerful texts on fasting in the Bible. Isaiah 58 is an amazing reminder of why we fast. The Israelites were frustrated because God wasn't doing what they wanted Him to do after a time of fasting."Why have we fasted, and you see it not? Why have we humbled ourselves, and you take no knowledge of it?" they lament in verse 3. Trust me, you just need to read God's response through Isaiah in the verses that follow. Stop what you are doing and read it now: http://www.gnpcb.org/esv/search/?q=Isaiah+58.

If we have fasted and don't plan on doing anything for God's fame to spread in the King's Corridor and to the ends of the earth, we have fasted in vain. I pray that "you shall raise up the foundations of many generations;you shall be called the repairer of the breach, the restorer of streets to dwell in."
